Speaking in the post-race press conference, Egor Orudzhev was pleased with third place today but believes that beating Lotus was not possible.
“[I tried] to stay with the Lotus cars but their pace was too good for us. After all, I’m happy that I pushed the car to the limit and I was quicker than my teammate. I’ve made a big gap to him so that is a good point; we look forward and try to improve and find this extra pace.”
Orudzhev also commented on his attempted pass on Nissany from yesterday’s race and feels it was justified by the way in which he passed Vaxivière today.
“He [Vaxivière] got passed me at the start and then I did the move around the outside of turn 7; basically exactly the same as I did yesterday, but yesterday we collided and this time not. I left more or less the same space, so I showed it is possible to go around the outside there.”
With two wins and two third places, Orudzhev sits seventh in the championship standings, 30 points behind Arden teammate Aurélien Panis.
