East Coast Construction Racing’s Lee Johnston will miss this year’s Ulster Grand Prix after the Northern Irishman broke his collarbone in a crash during Tuesday’s practice sessions.

The rider from Fermanagh was doing some laps on his 250cc Honda to prepare for this year’s Classic TT when he crashed and broke his collarbone. Johnston won three races at last year’s event and was one of the men tipped for big things this week.

ECC have drafted in former TT winner Gary Johnson to replace the injured Johnston in the Superbike, Superstock and Supersport races. The Lincolnshire rider will take over a BMW S1000RR in the big bike classes and a Triumph 675 Daytona in the 600cc races, getting to know the machinery during Thursday’s practice sessions.
